Services
My specialty is working with new entrepreneurs who are eager to start off on the right path. While you are very busy hustling, you also recognize the importance of basic financial literacy and basic accounting knowledge to guide your business in the right direction. My goal is to empower you to make informed financial decisions. If we’re the right fit, I’ll work closely with you and align with your budget to help you achieve your goals.

Typically, I collaborate with businesses in their first 1-3 years, focusing on the foundational elements listed below. There may come a point when you’ll outgrow my services and need to transition to a larger firm to handle more complex transactions. This is a good thing. At that stage, I will recommend to you some great options and my role will likely evolve to further support your growth.
Out of Scope:
"I can do it all" said no one ever.

I will not be able to assist in matters relating to International Taxation, Partnership or Trust Tax Returns, Valuations or any Mergers & Acquisitions
Should we work together?
I believe it is essential to connect with an accountant who aligns with your values and goals. While I fully understand the complexities of balancing entrepreneurship and life’s demands, over the years I’ve discovered I work best with individuals who:
-
Are eager to know the “why” and will ask questions to clarify
-
Are wanting to learn and gain deeper insights before signing their name to any document
-
Are aiming to make informed life (or business) decisions

Sample Diagnosis

Very Basic
You are likely a sole proprietor with a straightforward business generating less than $500K in revenue. The complexity of your operations is minimal, and there are no external stakeholders relying on your financial information. You primarily need assistance with your personal tax return and possibly sales tax filings.
Simple
You are likely an incorporated business with revenues between $0 and $1M. While the complexity of your business is still limited, you may need help with corporate tax returns (T2) sales tax filings (GST/HST/PST), and informational returns (T4/T5). You have minimal external users relying on your financial statements and are focused on Canadian active business income.
Plus +
Building on SIMPLE + you also need extra assistance throughout the fiscal year. This might include bookkeeping assistance, periodic budgeting, scenario analysis, or forecasting. Or, your business includes revenue beyond Canadian active business income. Your business is growing, and you need a deeper dive into the numbers to make informed decisions. You'll benefit from financial analysis and discussions on key considerations before making major decisions
Mature
Building on 'PLUS+,'
.. you also require regular check-ins and comprehensive financial analysis. Your business is progressing, and at this stage, our relationship is likely evolving into a Fractional Controller role to provide ongoing strategic financial support.
Too Mature
First off, congratulations! You are likely an incorporated business with multiple shareholders or multiple permanent establishments outside of Canada. You have graduated to revenues in excess of $1M and/or have grown in complexity. You will require a full time bookkeeper to complete the full cycle reporting. You will also need a larger tax firm to assist with the complex tax arrangement, planning and possibly family estate planning.
I will need to recommend you to another firm.
